Start Small

"A small step is also a step."

Said the community manager on an online conference few months ago, whilst presenting a project.

Those words came to mind just like that. Even when I started writing this post, I remembered that line straightaway. Honestly, that brings me to a little reflection of all those desires to start something out in the past. I realized why I easily lose motivation and then get straight out of track. The reason can be explained by a simple keyword;

Start.

Now, let's add another variable into this topic;

Expectation.

Now we can correlate these two variables. If we put our expectations way too high, we tend to think that we've got to give it all at the start (which may be right at some point). Perfectly structured ideas, high-quality tools, skilled human resources, or even a well-structured team. Some people might have got all those things in hands, but not every person can pursue the same, or even all of it. And as we face that bitter truth, it's easy for us to choose the exit doors, instead of staying on walking in a long quiet underground floor until we find that cozy prayer room.

Sometimes, we forget a small start is all we need in order to create something big. If you're really into something, then learn more about it, surround yourself with it, grow yourself around it. After that, just start taking actions. Forget about where you should start, forget about what kind of start you should make, just step that foot on the start line. No matter how little your resources are, if there is a big desire inside of you, then there is always a way. Trust the process, and let your work do the rest. And... always remember to start small.
